Surfacing your driveway can be a tricky business. Firstly there are many different surfaces to choose from, secondly the prices of these surfaces vary greatly as does the quality and longevity. It can all be a bit of a nightmare. So here at Oltco we thought we’d give you a run down of some of the options available to you along with some of the pros and cons. Gravel: This is one of the cheaper ways to surface your driveway however it is probably ne of the most least practical. Gravel is simply dumped, normally in large quantities on your driveway and then raked across the area to create an even finish. However gravel moves it is not fixed in place and therefore bald areas will appear, mounds will be created and bits of gravel will come off the driveway onto surrounding areas. Weeds are no match for gravel and will happily find a home between the loose stones although you may find that they are easier than normal to pick out if you are quick about it.
